Text Campaigns (Search)
Text campaigns (Search) display ads in Google and Microsoft Advertising search results as text headlines and descriptions. In Sembot, ads are created dynamically — based on templates and product feed data — which allows you to manage thousands of products without manually writing each ad individually.

Search campaign hierarchy
Search Campaign
└── Ad groups (created automatically by Segmentation)
├── Keywords (generated automatically from product titles)
└── Ads (generated dynamically from Templates)Each ad group corresponds to one product segment (e.g., one brand or one category). Sembot creates for it:
- a set of keywords generated from the names of products belonging to that group
- ads built from a template filled with those products' data
Generating ads based on products / feed
Ads in our system are created dynamically based on templates. This allows the creation of many unique ads and increases the granularity of the entire campaign.
Instead of writing a separate ad for each product, you define a template with product fields. During synchronization, Sembot fills the template with each product's data and generates ready-to-use ads.
Example: a headline template [brand] [title] – buy now for a Nike product named "Air Max 90" will produce the headline "Nike Air Max 90 – buy now".
Keywords — the Keywords step
Sembot offers three ways to add keywords to a Search campaign:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Generate from product titles | Sembot automatically extracts phrases from product titles in the feed and builds a keyword list |
| Add manually | You enter keywords yourself — one by one or as a list |
| Upload CSV | You import a ready-made keyword list from a CSV file |
Keyword match types
| Type | Notation | When the ad is shown |
|---|---|---|
| Exact match | [keyword] | Only when the query is identical or very close to the phrase |
| Phrase match | "keyword" | When the query contains the phrase in that order |
| Broad match | +keyword | When the query contains all the words in any order |
Generator configuration
In the Generate from product titles mode, you can set:
- Match types — select which types should be generated
- Min. / max. word count — phrase length range
- Automatically generate new keywords — Sembot adds missing keywords before each daily synchronization
- Negative keywords — phrases excluded from generation (e.g., "used", "free")
- Disruptive characters — special characters skipped when parsing titles
- Split text into words — define which characters split a title into separate words
- Generate using AI — enable to have Sembot use an AI model with your AI Instruction to create phrases; you can also specify Additional product attributes included in generation (Brand, Color, Material, Product Type)
Ad templates — how they work
Ad templates are configured in the Templates step. Google text ads are Responsive Search Ads (RSA) — they contain up to 12 headlines and up to 4 descriptions, and Google automatically selects their combination at each impression.
Template fields
| Element | Character limit | Minimum count | Maximum count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Headline | 30 characters | 3 | 12 |
| Description | 90 characters | 2 | 4 |
| Display path 1 | 15 characters | — | 1 |
| Display path 2 | 15 characters | — | 1 |
Product values (dynamic fields)
In every template field you can insert a Product value — an attribute pulled from the feed for each product. Available attributes:
| Attribute | What it inserts |
|---|---|
title | Product name |
description | Product description |
brand | Brand |
product_type | Product type |
price | Price |
sale_price | Sale price |
currency | Currency |
color | Color |
material | Material |
size | Size |
gtin | GTIN code |
custom_label_0 … custom_label_4 | Custom labels 0–4 |
Text formatting options
Each template field has additional formatting options:
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Capitalize | Changes the first letter of each word to uppercase |
| Lowercase | Converts all letters to lowercase (uppercase letters take higher priority) |
| Truncation | If the text is too long for a given field, the overflow is moved to the next headline or description field |
| Stop at (?.!) | Trims text at the first occurrence of ., ?, or ! — useful when a product description is a long sentence |
Multiple templates
You can define several templates within a single campaign — each as a separate tab. Sembot will rotate between them, testing which combinations deliver better results.
Product preview
After defining a template, the Product preview section shows how the ad will look for a specific product from the feed — with all fields filled in with real data.
Ad extensions
Ad extensions (sitelinks, callouts, structured snippets) are not configured in Sembot — they are managed directly in the Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising account, independently of campaigns created by Sembot.
After synchronizing a campaign, you can assign extensions to it in the Google Ads interface. Sembot does not overwrite these settings during subsequent synchronizations.
