Product Attributes

Attributes are all the data describing a product — from its name and price, through stock status and availability, to the technical details required by Google Shopping. Sembot lets you edit them manually for individual products or update them in bulk using rules.

Table of Contents

Standard Google Shopping Attributes and Their Requirements

Google Shopping requires a specific set of attributes for a product to appear in ads. Below is an overview of attributes available in Sembot along with information about their significance.

Attributes Required by Google

Without these attributes, a product will not be accepted by Google Merchant Center:

Attribute in SembotTechnical NameDescription
TitletitleProduct name visible in the ad. Max. 150 characters.
DescriptiondescriptionProduct description. Max. 5,000 characters.
LinklinkURL of the product page in the store.
PricepriceCurrent selling price including currency.
AvailabilityavailabilityStock status: In Stock, Out of Stock, Preorder, On Order.
ConditionconditionProduct condition: New, Used, Refurbished.
Product Categorygoogle_product_categoryCategory according to Google's taxonomy (e.g., "Apparel & Accessories > Shoes").
Google Product IDgoogle_product_idUnique product identifier sent to Google.

Missing these reduces feed quality and may limit ad impressions:

Attribute in SembotTechnical NameDescription
GTINgtinGlobal product code (EAN, UPC, ISBN). Required for branded products.
MPNmpnManufacturer part number — an alternative to GTIN.
BrandbrandProduct brand. Required if the product has a GTIN.

Additional Attributes

These increase visibility and expand advertising capabilities:

Attribute in SembotDescription
Custom Labels 0–4Custom tags for segmenting products in campaigns (e.g., "bestseller", "new-collection").
ShippingDelivery country, price, and service name.
Shipping Weight / DimensionsLogistical data needed for automatic shipping cost calculation.
Energy Efficiency ClassRequired for household appliances and electronics in the EU.
CertificationsCertifying body, certificate name, and certificate code.
InstallmentFinancing terms: number of months, installment amount, credit type.
Product DetailsAdditional "attribute name / value" pairs (e.g., "Material / 100% cotton").
Product HighlightShort promotional bullet points displayed in Google ads.
Loyalty ProgramLoyalty program data (program name, tier, points, cashback).

Tip: The more attributes are filled in, the better Google can match ads to user queries. Products with a complete set of attributes achieve better campaign results.

Editing an Attribute for a Single Product

Sembot allows you to edit attributes directly in the product table without opening a separate screen.

Inline Editing (Directly in the Table)

  1. Find the product in the table and click on the attribute cell you want to change.
  2. The cell switches to edit mode — type a new value or select one from the list.
  3. Click outside the cell or press Enter — the change is saved automatically.

Most text and numeric attributes (Title, Description, Price, Color, Size, etc.) support inline editing.

Attributes with a list of values (Availability, Condition, Gender, Visibility, etc.) display a dropdown menu with predefined options.

Editing Complex Attributes (Dialog Window)

Some attributes have an expanded structure and open a separate dialog window:

Shipping — double-clicking on the cell opens a modal with fields:

  • Price (required)
  • Country (required)
  • Service (optional, e.g., "DPD", "InPost")

You can add multiple entries for different countries (using the "Add" button).

Certifications — opens a modal with fields:

  • Certifying body (e.g., "TÜV", "CE")
  • Certificate name
  • Certificate code

Installment — opens a modal with fields:

  • Number of months
  • Installment amount
  • Credit type: Credit or Leasing
  • Down payment (optional)

Product Details — opens a modal allowing you to add any number of pairs:

  • Attribute name (e.g., "Material")
  • Attribute value (e.g., "100% cotton")

Loyalty Program — opens a modal with fields:

  • Loyalty program name
  • Tier name
  • Loyalty points
  • Cashback for future use
  • Price

Manual Edit Indicator (Override)

After manually changing an attribute value, a green triangle appears in the upper left corner of the cell. This indicates that the value was changed manually and will no longer be overwritten by the feed — even if the feed is updated.

To remove the manual change and restore synchronization with the feed:

  1. Click the green triangle in the cell — the "Edit Setting Values" window will open.
  2. From the list, select the field from which you want to remove the manual change.
  3. Click Save — the attribute will revert to the value sourced from the feed.

Note: Removing a manual change will cause the current value to be overwritten by feed data at the next synchronization.

Bulk Attribute Updates via Rules

Rules allow you to automatically set, modify, or fill in attributes for many products at once — without manually editing each one individually.

Navigate to: Inventory → Rule Settings.

Creating a Rule — Step 1: Selecting Products

The first step is to define which products the rule should apply to.

  1. Use filters and search to narrow down the product list (works the same way as in the Your Products view).
  2. You can use saved views (tabs) or set up filters from scratch.
  3. The preview table continuously shows products matching the criteria.
  4. Once the product list is correct, click Next Step.

Creating a Rule — Step 2: Attribute Action

In the second step, you define what should happen to the selected attribute.

  1. Select a column — indicate which attribute you want to modify (e.g., Title, Custom Label 0, Price).
  2. Select an action — specify the operation:
ActionEffect
SetReplaces the attribute value with the given value
AddAdds text to the existing value
AppendAppends text at the end of the value
PrependInserts text at the beginning of the value
ReplaceReplaces a portion of the value with different text
UppercaseConverts the value to UPPERCASE
LowercaseConverts the value to lowercase
CapitalizedCapitalizes the first letter of each word
RemoveRemoves the specified text fragment from the value
  1. Enter a value — provide the text or number to be applied.
  2. Click Save — the rule is applied to all filtered products.

Rule Usage Examples

Example 1 — Adding a brand to titles:

  • Filter: Brand = "Nike"
  • Action: Title → "Prepend" → "Nike "
  • Result: All Nike products will have the brand added to the beginning of the title.

Example 2 — Marking bestsellers with a label:

  • Filter: Google Ads ROAS > 500%
  • Action: Custom Label 0 → "Set" → "bestseller"
  • Result: High-ROAS products will receive a label used in campaigns.

Example 3 — Standardizing condition:

  • Filter: Condition = empty
  • Action: Condition → "Set" → "New"
  • Result: Products without a condition value will receive "New".

Rule Templates

Sembot provides ready-made rule templates grouped by topic:

CategoryExample Use
Data CleaningRemoving unnecessary spaces, special characters
Data EnrichmentFilling in missing attributes
SEOOptimizing titles and descriptions
QualityChecking data correctness
LabelsAutomatically assigning campaign tags
ExclusionsHiding products that don't meet criteria
SeasonalityRules active during specific time periods

Viewing Attribute Change History

Sembot tracks manual attribute changes through the override (manual edit) mechanism.

What Is Visible in the UI

A green triangle in the corner of a cell indicates that the attribute was manually edited. Hovering over the triangle displays a message:

"This value was changed manually and will not be overwritten from the feed. Click to edit."

Clicking the triangle opens the "Edit Setting Values" window, where you can see a list of all fields that have been manually changed for that product.

Limitations

The product view does not show a full change history (who changed it, when, from what value to what). Only the current state is visible — whether a given field was manually changed or not.

Tip: If you need to track change history for audit purposes, use the Quality Control → Visibility Audit section, which records events at the project level.
