What is GMC feed import and when to use it
Sembot allows you to pull your product catalog directly from your Google Merchant Center account, without needing a separate XML/CSV feed file.
When to use this:
If you want to add products to Sembot that will appear on your comparison shopping service (CSS) page and you don't have a link to a product file.
This is especially useful when:
- Your store does not generate a publicly accessible feed file
- Products are already configured and approved in GMC
How to configure GMC feed import — step by step
Step 1 — Connect your Google account to the project
Before adding a feed, you need to connect your Google account (which has access to GMC) to your project in Sembot.
- Go to the Connections section in the side menu.
- Find the Google Merchant Center tile and click Connect.
- In the configuration window:
- Select a Connection (a Google account with access to GMC) from the list.
- Select an Account — the system will automatically fetch the list of Merchant Center accounts available for the selected Google connection.
- If your GMC account has sub-accounts (MCA — Multi-Client Account structure), select the appropriate Sub-account.
- Click Save.
After this step, the GMC connection will be visible in your project's connections list.
Step 2 — Add an input feed from GMC
- Go to the Feeds section in your project.
- Click Add feed.
- In the feed creation form:
- Enter a Feed name (any name, used for internal identification in Sembot).
- Instead of entering a file URL — select a Connection from the list, pointing to the previously configured Google Merchant Center connection.
- The system will automatically recognize the feed type as GMC.
- Click Go to mapping.
- On the next screen, confirm the automatic mapping and click Save feed.
How product fetching works
Once configured, Sembot regularly synchronizes products from your GMC account:
- Products are fetched page by page directly via the Google Merchant Center API.
- The entire product catalog from GMC (all approved products in the account) is imported into Sembot.
- Synchronization runs automatically according to the schedule set for the feed.
- The status of the last synchronization (number of products fetched, any errors) is visible next to the feed in the feeds list.
Requirements
- An active Google Merchant Center account with products.
- The Google account used for the connection must have read access to the GMC account (Standard role or higher in GMC user settings).
- If you use an MCA (Multi-Client Account), Sembot supports both the top-level account and sub-accounts — the selection is made during connection configuration.
