Prerequisites

Before connecting Sembot to Google Ads, make sure the following conditions are met:

Google Ads Account

  • An active Google Ads account (standard account or a client account within an MCC).
  • The account must be in active status — suspended accounts or accounts under review cannot be connected.
  • The account's currency and time zone must already be set (they cannot be changed from within Sembot after the connection is established).

User Permissions

  • The user authorizing the connection must have access to the Google Ads account at the Administrator or Standard level.
  • Read-only access (Reporting only) is insufficient — Sembot requires write access to manage campaigns and bids.
  • If connecting an MCC account, administrator-level permissions at the MCC account level are required.

Google Account

  • The email address associated with Google Ads must be a Google account (gmail.com or a Google Workspace business account).
  • Having two-step verification enabled on the Google side does not block the process — OAuth handles it natively.

OAuth Process — Step by Step

Sembot connects to Google Ads via the OAuth 2.0 protocol — it does not store your Google password.

  1. Go to integration settings In the main menu, select Workspace Settings → Connections → Google, then click the Connect Account button.

  2. Redirect to Google Sembot will redirect you to the Google login page. Sign in with the account that has access to Google Ads.

  3. Select Google Account If you are signed in to multiple Google accounts, select the appropriate one from the list.

  4. Grant Permissions Google will display a consent screen listing the permissions Sembot is requesting. Click Allow to authorize the connection.

Sembot requests only the permissions necessary for campaign management. The full list of permissions is visible on the consent screen.

  5. Return to Sembot After authorization, you will be redirected back to Sembot. The system will automatically retrieve the list of available advertising accounts associated with the authorized Google account.

  6. Select Advertising Account From the list, choose the Google Ads account you want to connect. Then go to the Connections tab in the side menu and select the specific advertising account you want to activate in the project. If you have access to an MCC account, the client accounts will also appear in the list (see the MCC Account Handling section).

  7. Confirm the Connection Click Save. The connection status will change to Active, and Sembot will begin its first data synchronization.

Token Refresh The OAuth token is refreshed automatically by Sembot. The connection remains active until you manually disconnect it or revoke permissions on the Google side (My Google Account → Security → Third-party app access).

MCC Account Handling (Multi-Client)

An MCC account (Manager Account, formerly My Client Center) allows you to manage multiple Google Ads accounts from a single location. Sembot fully supports the MCC structure.

How MCC Connection Works

After authorizing a Google account with MCC access, Sembot automatically detects the structure and displays a list of all client accounts available within the MCC. You can connect:

  • Selected client accounts individually — each as a separate integration in the Sembot project.
  • Multiple client accounts to a single Sembot project (if this feature is available in your plan).

MCC Requirements

  • The MCC account must have Administrator or Standard access granted to the client accounts (read-only access is insufficient).
  • Authorization happens once at the MCC level — you do not need to authorize each client account separately.

Limitations

  • Sembot always operates at the level of a specific client account, not at the entire MCC level. Reports and operations apply to the selected account.
  • Changes to the MCC structure on the Google side (e.g., moving a client account) may require re-selecting the account in the Sembot integration settings.

Disconnecting and Changing the Account To change the connected MCC client account, go to Workspace Settings → Connections → Google, click Disconnect, then complete the OAuth process again and select a different account from the list.
