Communication in a Task

Table of Contents

Comment Threads — How They Work

Every task has a communication section available at the bottom of the task card. Comments support a threaded structure — each comment can have replies nested directly beneath it. By default, the latest reply in a thread is shown; the rest can be expanded.

The communication view is divided into tabs:

  • Comment — user comments only
  • Email Inbox — email messages linked to the task
  • All Activity — comments, emails, and system logs together
  • Work Log — time tracking entries

Comments support text formatting, user mentions, and attachments. You can also react to comments (likes).

@Mentions and Notifications

When writing a comment, typing the @ character opens a suggestion list of workspace users. Once a person is selected, their mention appears as a highlighted element in the comment body.

The mentioned person receives a notification regardless of whether they are assigned to the task. The system verifies that the mentioned user has access to the given task and project — the notification is only sent if the permissions are met.

Other people associated with the task (collaborators) may receive a notification about a new comment, depending on their notification settings.

Task Activity History

Changes made to a task are automatically recorded as system entries in the communication section (visible in the All Activity tab). System entries are visually distinguished from user comments.

Tracked events include, among others:

  • status change
  • priority change
  • title change
  • due date change
  • adding and removing an assigned person
  • label changes
  • section changes

Each entry includes information about who made the change, when it was made, and what the values were before and after the change.
